ON GOING PROJECTS
The
Union Management is currently working on different projects
even with its limited financial resources. We are relying on
brothers and sisters' voluntary assistance to get
this project underway
ICT (Information and Communication
Technology):
eUNION: we have been since the end of 2005
working towards introducing the ICT resources to the
Halal slaughtermen (Union's members). The project first
stage is now due to be completed. The aim of the project
is to link the Halal slaughtermen with their union main
office in Christchurch (ie Holding online meetings) and
also to provide online services to the Halal customers
from all over the world.

2005 NZ Halal Union identified the
significant of ICT to the union day to day work and to
the global Halal Industry.

2005 Halal Union approached CORE
education to discuss possible partnership to introduce
ICT resources to the NZ Halal industry.

2006 Expression of Interest
application form accepted and later full application was
submitted to department of Internal affairs (Under
community partnership - Digital strategy).

July 2007 Phase 1 surveying the
Halal Slaughtermen nationwide completed.
Website:
Union website has undergone several
upgrades. The website received more than 255,000 requests
from all over the world. Knowing that the website is
run by volunteers, the Halal Union is proud of this
achievement.
Other Projects:

Feasibility Study for the proposed
NZ Halal Legislation (It is now reality introduced by
NZFSA)

Project (it is now an independent trust)

Further develop and maintain the
Halal Slaughtermen Training Program. This can be
achieved by bringing awareness within the community of
the stable and well paid career in the Halal Industry.
The project will involve publishing leaflets, holding
orientation programs and working closely with the
government agencies dealing with employment and
training.

Train the Halal Union officials on
matter related to Employment law ACT 2000 and its
amendments 2004 and relations services.

Site visit: NZ Halal Union members will be
regularly visited and trained by the NZ Halal Union
officials on Employment related issues.

We are looking into the
possibility of providing Social Support to the Halal
Workers in the rural communities Encourage them
to socially integrate with the smaller rural
communities. This will depend on the availability of
funds.
There are
other very attractive and promising projects in the
pipeline. These will be announced as funds become available.

management of the Union is determined to materialise its
goals and objectives. With your support we can speed up the
